Chris Pratt will to co-star in Thor: Love And Thunder.
Crossing over from Marvel franchise The Guardians of the Galaxy Pratt will again appear alongside Chris Hemsworth for the fourth film in the Thor series.
Pratt will, of course, reprise the role of star hoping orphan Peter Quill.
The news arrives via The Holywood Reporter which also reports that the film is currently in preproduction.
Film work will begin in Australia in early 2021.
The announcement may not come as too much of a shock to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The most recent Avengers film saw Thor and Quill strike up a competitive and comical rivalry over the leadership of the latter’s unruly superhero team The Guardians of the Galaxy.
Avengers: Endgame concluded with Thor joining Quill’s crew onboard their spaceship for a journey across the cosmos.
Pratt’s fellow Guardians of the Galaxy actor Vin Diesel will also be joining the upcoming Thor movie as Groot.
Thor: Love and Thunder will also see the return of Natalie Portman as Thor’s recurring love interest Jane Foster.
Portman has been absent from the series since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World.
The 39-year-old Portman does not attribute her absence from the Marvel franchise to any conflict behind the scenes.
“Obviously, I wasn’t written into [Thor 3: Ragnarok] because of where it took place,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight earlier this year.
Following on from a popular The Mighty Thor comic book story arc, Portman will take on her Asgardian lover’s powers to become the God of Thunder.
“It wasn’t really on Earth, and my character is on Earth.”
Popular Thor sidekick Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) will also return.
A villain of the new story will be Batman: The Dark Knight Rises actor Christain Bale.
Thor 3: Ragnarok mastermind Taika Waititi will resume duties as a director.
“[Love & Thunder] is just so over-the-top now,” Waititi shared with fans in April “in the very best way.”
“It makes Ragnarok seem like a very run-of-the-mill, very safe film.”
Thor: Love and Thunder is presently scheduled for February 11, 2022 release.
