Glitter Records’ third California Lane CD & Record Fair took place during BIGSOUND 2026.

Glitter Records and the Lanes Precinct coordinated the Fortitude Valley event. Music is a communal experience. Our activation was part of an ongoing support for this idea. All members of the Glitter Records team were on hand for the day.

Vendors came from across Queensland for two days. They brought vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and archival recordings.

Collectors browsed early pressings, imports, box sets, and long‑deleted titles.

The laneway environment provided shade, greenery, and a relaxed setting. One ideal for crate‑digging.

BIGSOUND delegates and locals visited throughout the two days of the event.

Blue crates lined the tables, offering rock, pop, jazz, electronic, hip‑hop, and Brisbane‑related releases.

CD collectors found singles, EPs, and deluxe editions. And many nostalgic favourites from the 1990s and 2000s.

Many buyers focused on condition, release variations, and genre history.

The California Lane CD & Record Fair created space for casual browsing, archival interest, and conversations about music discovery, supporting collectors, independent vendors, and Brisbane’s wider music community.

Collectors compared finds. They shared recommendations. And discussed Brisbane’s independent music heritage.

The event highlighted the continued appeal of physical media in an increasingly digital world.

It also demonstrated the strength of our local community. Especially around independent retail and Brisbane’s music culture.

Caytlan Koljndreka of Rebel Rebel Agency documented the fair’s second day. Her images captured browsing, atmosphere, laneway activity, and the tactile nature of crate‑digging.

Her documentation reflects the energy of California Lane during BIGSOUND 2026.

Glitter Records acknowledges all vendors, collectors, and visitors who contributed to the fair’s success. We also thank Californian Lane, 4ZZZ Community Radio, local historian Robert Allen, and BIGSOUND for their support in the lead-up to the fair.

The activation strengthened connections between collectors, independent sellers, and the wider music community.

BIGSOUND 2026 provided an ideal backdrop for celebrating physical media and music culture in Fortitude Valley. The California Lane CD & Record Fair stands as a clear example of how BIGSOUND 2026 continues to support local culture and Brisbane’s independent music ecosystem.
