“34+35,” Grande writes via Twitter referencing the title of sixth studio album Positions second track.
An accompanying image shows Ariana in what appears to be a dressing room sporting a new hairstyle.
Behind the album’s lead single, also titled ‘Positions’, the song has quickly proven a favorite among fans.
This is in no small part to its racy chorus.
“Can you stay up all night?” Grande sings.
“F**k me ’til the daylight, thirty-four, thirty-five.”
(34 and 35 add to 69, a numerical combination also used to refer to a common sexual position.)
To date, ’34+35′ has been streamed more than 40 million times on Spotify alone.
Trumping even high profile guest appearances from Doja Cat on ‘Motive’, rapper Ty Dolla $ign on ‘Safety Net’ and The Weeknd on ‘Off the Table’ on the album, ’34+35′ debuted at #8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Following the song’s release, Ariana Grande has joked that it may not exactly be a reflection of her real-life relationship with property mogul Dalton Gomez.
“The whole ‘F*** me ’til the daylight’ thing is like… ridiculous,” Grande shared with YouTuber Zach Shang earlier this week.
“Because I’m tired after one, and it’s time to go to bed.”
“For me,” she continued, “it’s a total façade, it’s bullshit! Just kidding.”
“I’ve been very nervous about 34+35,’” The 27-year-old artist also revealed.
“I don’t want it to distract from the rest of the album, but I do love it and sonically it’s one of my favorite things we’ve ever done”
Released on October 30, 2020, Positions is Ariana Grande’s fifth album to hit Number One in the US and her third in less than two years.
“This project is my favorite for many reasons and I really can’t wait for it to be yours,” Grande shared of the album ahead of its October 30 release, “Thank you for your love and excitement, it means the world to me.”
Despite the album’s strong reception, Grande will likely remain off the road for the remainder of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While no formal announcements have been made, she is expected to resume touring in 2021.
