Known for its deep catalog and sharp curation, Glitter Records is bringing together collectors, sellers, and music fans for a full day of crate-digging, conversation, and discovery in the heart of Fortitude Valley.
📍 A Market Built on Music and Community
Held in the open-air of California Lane, the record fair reflects Glitter Records’ philosophy of curation and connection. “People come in every weekend to talk music,” says Glitter Records founder Riley Fitzgerald. “This fair gives that energy a place to grow.”
With pastel shopfronts and café buzz, California Lane offers the perfect backdrop for the market. Visitors can expect to see the lane brimming with classic albums, underground releases, CDs, cassettes, and music memorabilia.

“The fair fits naturally in The Valley—it’s Brisbane’s home of live music,” says Fitzgerald. “There’s something special about hearing a record play while the city buzzes around you. So much of Brisbane’s music history happened right near where we’re holding the event. Remember that Powderfinger video with the slinky? It was filmed outside the old California Café, which backs onto the lane we’re celebrating with the 100 Years 100 Stories project. Regurgitator used to rehearse just a few doors down. You’ve got bars like Ric’s, where members of The Go-Betweens hung out. The Zoo is nearby too—that’s where you could catch bands like The Pixies or The National when they came to town. The Valley is also where Ball Park Music, Dune Rats, Hatchie, The Goon Sax and Cub Sport played some of their earliest gigs. QMusic, the team behind BIGSOUND, are part of the laneway as well. Just look around—these buildings are still covered in posters and flyers for new bands and DJs. Some of them might be the next big thing. It’s still happening.”
