Need a new track to add to your breakup playlist? Add ‘Good 4 U’. The third single from soon-to-be-arriving Olivia Rodrigo album Sour, this bassier track radiates elements of punk. It is something we have not seen the ‘Drivers License’ singer show before. Time to dust off the black eyeliner.

‘Good 4 U’ throws back to the early 2000s
‘Good 4 U’ has a different feel compared to sister singles ‘Drivers License’ and ‘Deja Vu’. While Rodrigo’s previous two songs have been quiet and contemplative, ‘Good 4 U’ is perfect for blaring out of windows. It is shows a different side to the sweet and reflective persona Olivia has displayed so far.
Two incredible things about the track are this. Firstly we can see the young star’s style developing before our very eyes (and ears). This is extremely cool to see. Olivia Rodrigo, like Billie Eilish, is not even 20 but seems to be entering her musical renaissance.
The second aspect that hits home is the odd sense of nostalgia it radiates. Y2K babies will agree, it’s been a while since we have cranked up Avril Lavigne. (Especially since she now has children of her own and we don’t want to be reminded that we are that old). Olivia Rodrigo captures the early 2000’s punk vibes and brings it alongside modern pop elements. They complement each other extremely well. It was a risk, but it works.
Final Thoughts
This is one sweet track. And is another song by the emerging singer that is bound to hit the TikTok charts very soon. If preceding single ‘Deja Vu’ was a little too much like Olivia’s breakthrough hit, this third addition to the Driver’s License saga has been the most impressive and stands alone in terms of style.
