Bernie Sanders on Dua Lipa

We all know it would be very easy for someone as successful as Dua Lipa to ignore the crisis we face in this world and enjoy her celebrity status,'” the former presidential candidate and social activist stated, “but that is not what Dua is about.”

Now,” he continued, “is the time to fight for a better future for all”.

An Acomplishment for Women Everywhere

Dua Lipa responded by sharing that the award was an accomplishment for women everywhere.

The British pop sensation also praised recent developments for women in the entertainment industry.

She encouraged young women everywhere to become future powerhouses themselves.

Her speech closed with a pledge to support the fight for equality and to improve the rights of women.

Finally, Lipa thanked Bernie Sanders referring to him as a ‘personal hero’.

Dua Lipa in 2020

Capping off an exceptional year Dua Lipa adds her Powerhouse Award to a growing collection of recent achievements.

Earlier in 2020, the 25 -year-old star claimed the 2020 Global Award for Best British Act and BMI London Award for hit single ‘Don’t Start Now’.

The awards no doubt offer some consolation for Lipa, who has been unable to tour her chart-topping Future Nostoliga album due to the international outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s with a heavy heart I will be postponing my upcoming European tour to September and October 2021,” she shared with fans in a Tweet earlier this October.

We have continued to monitor this unprecedented and changing situation, and it has become clear that it is not possible to go ahead with the tour in January and February.

She will resume touring in late 2021.
